SESSION DETAILS

Can startups solve social issues?

In general, startups solve a problem, then go seek funding. Those funding paths, in most cases, and even within the social cause category, tend to be your traditional Angel and VC routes.

Yet, in 2021, the City of Denver closed their fiscal year with an excess of $40 Million budgeted for homeless issues and solutions. Those funds are typically hidden within many layers of grants, applications and bureaucratic red tape. On the political site, government will say that the funds are readily available. Yet, the funds are held up and not being used.

On the founder side, the startup ecosystem rarely talks about these funds, and the need for solutions.

What if we merged the two ecosystems?

What if we made funds available to the startup ecosystem? What if we unleashed the world of entrepreneurship on several issues, with the knowledge that funds are availabe and ready?

Let's have an open discussion about how this might impact both ecosystems.

If you are a government agency, a non-profit or an organization that has funds available, we highly encourage you to join us and conenct with Mackenzie or Joseph to talk about partnering to deploy funds throught the startup ecosystem.
